Magnesium is an essential nutrient required to maintain a healthy body. It is often thought that magnesium needs can easily be met through a daily multivitamin but typically they only contain 10 per cent of the magnesium required daily. Magnesium deficiency can lead to many health consequences due to its diverse roles in the body. Research shows that 72 per cent of adults do not receive the recommended daily intake (RDI) for magnesium. Research supports claims that magnesium can support quality sleep. People who consume alcohol regularly are more likely to be deficient in magnesium.
